Usable by everyone
The site aims for WCAG 2.2 AA: everything you can do with a mouse, you can do with a keyboard or a screen reader.
How it's checked
- Every page is tested with axe on every change, and the home page, /demo and the docs in every theme, light and dark.
- Keyboard paths are tested end to end: the navigator (Ctrl+K or ⌘+K), the theme switcher, the install tabs and the live map.
- Pages reflow at 320 pixels wide and 400 % zoom, and keep selection and focus visible in forced colors.
- Anything that moves by itself can be paused, and starts paused if you've asked for reduced motion.
- Screen-reader passes with NVDA and VoiceOver are run by hand before releases.
The live map
The map is one stop in the tab order. Arrow keys move between devices, Enter opens a device's details (including "Pull the plug"), and Escape goes back. Its layout is visual, so each map also comes with a list of every device, its condition and its connections, for screen readers.
Known limits
- The map's spatial layouts have no non-visual equivalent beyond the device list.
- Some images in release notes and news come from the app's authors; their alt text is theirs.
- On /demo at 320 pixels wide (400 % zoom), a device's details panel can be partly hidden by the stage's edge.
